Hey guys- did I tell you I got a new camera? It's fabulous- It's so little it fits in my back pocket, and it just runs so smoothly it makes me smile. It's quick, and it's efficient- and it's cute. I am in love.
So today I have a funny little story for ya. I was riding my bike home and talking to myself, as usual. I crossed a street and, in the little snatch of time between hitting the lowered curb and being barked at by the resident canines, I saw a flash of red on the bottom of the brownest leaf I'd ever seen. Okay, overstatement, I know, but it was one of the prettiest little things in existence. I argued with myself for a moment- "I'm gonna go get it. No I'm not," and my bike swerved a little on its homebound path. So, at the nearest driveway, I turned out into the street and rode back to my little friend the leaf. I narrated for myself, putting my bike down on the sidewalk: "I am now going to do one of the strangest things I've ever done. I am going to lay down on the ground, wiggle my legs vigorously-" (I had to pee,) "and take a picture- seemingly- of the sidewalk." I then laid down on the ground and began to wiggle my legs. Almost directly after my act began, I heard the 'snort' of a school bus, and looked up to see a nice lady peeking at me from an open window. I looked at her straight in the eyes, grinned as wide as I could, and waved. She looked a little worried.
"Are you okay?" She asked me.
I kept the expression frozen on my face and answered, "Yep." I widened the grin a little.
"Just taking pictures...?" She inquired.
I repeated the act, this time aiming my camera at the clear, blue, cloudless sky and attempting to look focused."Yep."
"...Okay," she answered, and the bus rolled forward, its confused but laughing cargo closing the window as it left.
"Bye!" I called, and turned back to the sky.
And then... I laughed.
